Police Unity Tour
I usually reserve this blog for pictures of the kids, but Daniel and I did some pretty exciting stuff this week and this is the best way I have to share it with everyone!!
Daniel rode in the Police Unity Tour. It is a bike ride from Portsmouth, VA to Washington D.C. It takes 3 days to ride over 250 miles. The ride raises money for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. There is a wall in D.C. with all the names of officers who were killed in the line of duty. Each person who goes on the tour wears a bracelet with the name of a fallen officer. There motto is "We ride for those who died".
I was able to go this year on the support team. I was put on hotel duty. I went each day to the next town and set up the hotel rooms...checked in the riders, got their keys, delivered their luggage to their rooms, etc. (I wasn't alone...there were about 8 of us)
Since I was on the hotel team, I didn't get to see very much of the actual ride. So, what little I saw, I videotaped and got really excited!!
This was a very emotional trip! So much fun to spend the week with my husband, yet so heartbreaking to see all the names on the wall and meet the survivors. I was very happy to be surrounded by new friends and my sweetheart!

This is video of the beginning of Day 3.I don't know who this guy is, but on the last day he carried a flag while he rode into the memorial. I just thought it looked cool... 
This was taken the day after the ride was finished. There was a memorial service for all the fallen officers. Survivors were brought in on buses and escorted by the uniformed officers. It took approximately 3 hours to escort all the survivors who came. As soon as they all arrived, we had a candlelight vigil. The whole process was so amazing and the amount of people was breath taking.

These are the motors lining up outside the hotel. It was amazing and loud! This is only about half of them. They rode in front of, behind, and with the bicycles to block traffic. They leap frogged from intersection to intersection, pretty neat stuff!

I was trying to get a shot of everyone. Pictures don't do it justice. There were over 200 bikers and many more support personnel (that's what I did).
This is Ginny, she was my partner in crime! She was supposed to ride her bike on the tour but found out a couple of months ago that she was pregnant! So she came along as support (she drove me around because I wasn't allowed to drive the cities vehicles ) this picture was taken at the memorial wall...a very emotional place!

Cape San Blas
Amy and Travis invited us down to the beach to spend the weekend with their family. We had such fun!! It was a little bit chilly, but for the most part, warm enough to play! We started at the Bay and found lots of sea creatures!!
